Why do we need a morning routine?

When you create your unique morning routine you assert your own intention and authority over the day. A morning routine can offer us a time to practice our intention and to cultivate a mindfulness that can lead to feelings of peace and calm as we go through our day.

Here are 10 reasons to do the work and to cultivate a morning routine:

  1. Be Prepared - When we start our day with a clear intention and a routine we set ourselves up to be in a good mind frame for the day.

  2. Increased Productivity - When we start our day by completing the simple tasks in our morning routine we begin the day feeling accomplished which has a positive effect on our productivity levels for the day.

  3. Find Focus & Control - A well designed morning routine allows us to strengthen our focus for the day and to establish a sense of control and calm.

  4. Lower Stress - No matter how complicated or busy our day may be, when we begin with a mindful routine we calm our minds and our breath which allows for a calmer and less stressed approach to the business of the day.

  5. Develop Healthy Habits - With a morning routine we establish good self care, nutrition and healthy habits, never rushing off without eating breakfast or taking a moment of meditation or prayer.

  6. Boost Energy - Our morning routine can include some healthy energy boosters like a yoga sequence or cold shower, to name just two. These have much longer reaching health benefits than a strong coffee on an empty stomach.

  7. Improve relationships - When we have a well established morning routine we have the time to be present in our relationships without feeling rushed and stressed. Being present can enrich and strengthen a relationship.

  8. Combat Forgetfulness - with a clearly structured morning routine we are bound to develop a sense of clarity and calm that will decrease our forgetfulness and enhance our memory. An uncluttered and focus mind has an enhanced capacity for memory and learning.

  9. Improve Confidence - A morning routine helps us to take control of our day and when we are in control of our environment and actions we naturally feel more calm, collected and confident.

  10. Be Flexible - A calm, well planned and executed morning routine allows us time to meet obstacles that may arise with a sense of creativity and flexibility.
